Hipster Comedy Film Joins Roster in Time for MIPTV
Los Angeles – (March 11, 2009) Camelot Entertainment Group, Inc. (OTCBB: CMGR) (”Camelot”) announced that Camelot Distribution Group acquired Who is K.K. Downey?, a comedy about two hipsters willing to do anything for fame.
A Kidnapper Films and Brandi-Ann Milbradt production, the film is directed by Pat Kiely and Darren Curtis, produced by Pat Kiely, Darren Curtis, Kieran Crilly, and Brandi-Ann Milbradt, and written by Pat Kiely, Darren Curtis, and Matt Silver.
The film stars Montreal’s Kidnapper Comedy Troupe’s Darren Curtis, Matt Silver, Pat Kiely, Dan Haber, and also includes Kristin Adams (Where the Truth Lies), Paul Spence (It’s All Gone Pete Tong).
“KK Downey is loosely inspired by the characters of JT Leroy and author James Frey. It is a fun, cult-like film,” stated Jamie Thompson, Camelot President of Distribution. “We are pleased to be partnering with the young, creative talent behind this project, and are excited to add it to our line-up.”
Who is KK Downey? follows the story of two wannabes who cannot seem to make a name for themselves the old-fashioned way so they create a personality that gains all the fame and recognition they could ever desire. But everything comes at a price.
The film won accolades at Mauvais Genre Festival in France, Cinequest, and Boston Underground film festivals. It was also nominated for a Genie Award and was official selection at the Philadelphia Film Festival.
